This what I have as a current schedule for the upcoming year. As I get it all down on paper and fill in the days on my calendar it is shaping up to be a busy year. In addition to the below travels and shows, I have commitments with my gallery representations at Demott Gallery in Vail, Colorado, The Lucille Lucas Gallery in Crested Butte, Colorado and the Wildspirit Gallery in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. This of course does not include any of my classes and workshops I have scheduled.

February 8th, 9th, 10th

The 4th Annual Mancos Mush Sled Dog Race. We used to run sled dogs and this is a good way for me to keep my fingers in the sport as the Race Marshall for the race. Additionally I do a painting every year for the race to use as a promotional poster for the event. The painting is sold at silent auction during a reception at Veryl Goodknights Grand Ave Studio and Gallery in Mancos. As a side benefit I get to shoot lots of copy for future paintings. If you have a chance come to Southwestern Colorado and enjoy a spectacular winter sport with mushers from as far away as the Northwest Territories, Canada participating in the race. A good time is guaranteed for all.

April 9th thru the 15th

Travel to Paso Robles for the 17th Annual Cattlemen’s Invitational Western Art Show & Sale on the 11th, 12th and 13th. This an invitational show and sale with fifty select artists painting in the western genre. This will be my first time participating in the show. I’m very excited and honored to have been chosen to be a part of it this year.

June 1st thru the 15th

Last year we went to Canada on our motorcycles, seven of us with two members of the party riding on to Alaska. This year we will ride to Napa Valley in California by motorcycle; up the California Coast to the Redwoods; into Oregon and Crater Lake; on to the Columbia River and east to Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho and returning to Montrose via Missoula, MT, Yellowstone and Jackson and south through Flaming Gorge. I always look forward to these trips as I get to see some beautiful country from the back of my motorcycle. I take along a camera and a small watercolor color kit to capture special scenes and record the adventure.

June 29th thru July 4th

Once again I have been invited back to the prestigious Telluride Plein Air Festival in beautiful Telluride, Colorado (which is actually almost my back yard). I really look forward to this opportunity to paint our grand local scenery and meet so many other artists, buyers and collectors over the course of the event. From June 29th through July 2nd, 30 invited artists will paint the local area and display for show and sale the results of their efforts on July 3rd and 4th.

August 1st thru the 10th

I travel to Charlotte, North Carolina to visit my mother and sister. The area is beginning to grow on me. This will be my 4th trip out there and I am finding more things to enjoy each time. While there this time I hope to get into the Blue Ridge Mountains, as well as the Smokey’s to do a little painting. Perhaps we’ll get down to Charleston S.C. to take in their fabulous art scene.

September 21st thru the 28th

This is another repeat for me at the Escalante Arts Festival. Again this is a typical plein air event were artist paint scenes from the local area. A show and sale follows on the 27th and 28th. This will be my 4th time participating. The event is drawing artists from all over the country and is turning out to be a pretty big deal. I always have a lot of fun and especially enjoy painting the red rock and high desert country typical to the area.
